- Perform journeyman-level arc, MIG, TIG, and oxygen/acetylene welding
- Perform journeyman-level brazing
- Perform oxygen/acetylene, carbon-arc, and plasma-arc cutting
- Weld and cut on military vehicles and customer metal fabrications
- Comply with Air Force Instructions, technical orders, and AWS Welding Code
- Inspect welding qualification coupons for quality standards
- Oversee Welders performing SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW welding
- Oversee Welders performing metal fabrications
- Ensure welder work complies with AFIs, technical orders, and industry standards
- Perform journeyman-level welding, cutting, and metal fabrications in shop and field
- Provide shop and field support for welding, fabrication, and repairs
- Read blueprints, sketches, and modification orders
- Plan welding processes and layouts
- Fabricate metal products per technical drawings or customer samples
- Coach subordinate Welders
- Ensure compliance with Internal Operating Procedures and quality regulations
- Manage the welding testing and qualification process
- Inspect test plates for assigned welding personnel
- Maintain and update the internal welding qualification program
- Repair military equipment using welding techniques
- Utilize oxygen/acetylene, carbon arc, and plasma cutting equipment
- Dismantle assemblies and cut material to size and shape
- Perform demilitarization (DEMIL) operations
- Operate and maintain electric hand and pneumatic power tools
- Operate and maintain shop-supported fabrication equipment
- Operate and maintain Government Furnished Equipment (GFE)
- Operate contact trucks, portable welding equipment, air compressors, and forklifts
- Observe Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) and fire regulations
- Maintain a safe work area
- Set up welding screens, warning devices, and proper equipment placement
- Prepare paperwork for job orders
- Document labor and supplies used
