Senior Scientist - Plating Technology & Surface Analysis(m/w/x)

Requirements

• Degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or Ph.D.
• Experience in electrochemical processes or surface treatments
• Understanding of electroplating fundamentals and kinetics
• Proficiency with surface analysis techniques
• Knowledge of contact physics and metallurgy
• Experience with statistical analysis and DOE
• Problem solving and cross-functional project leadership
• Excellent technical communication and documentation skills
• Experience with advanced plating and regulations
• Willingness to travel 10% to 25%

Tasks

• Lead R&D for precious metal electrodeposition processes
• Investigate deposition mechanisms for optimized coating performance
• Develop selective plating to minimize precious metal usage
• Support reel-to-reel and loose-piece plating operations
• Conduct surface analysis using XRF, SEM, and EDS
• Analyze plating thickness, porosity, and microstructure
• Perform failure analysis and root cause investigations
• Develop analytical methods for quality control
• Support new product introduction with plating expertise
• Execute DOEs to evaluate wear and corrosion behavior
• Create technical documentation and cost reduction initiatives
• Manage supplier qualification and auditing processes
• Mentor team members and present technical results
