Requirements

  • PhD in electrical/control/power systems/computer science or related field, or MSc with relevant experience
  • Deep expertise in microgrids, grid stability, ac/dc grids, energy distribution, grid protection, control design, or energy markets
  • Hands-on software development experience for efficient, reliable solutions
  • Experience with power system simulation tools for grid/microgrid analysis
  • Excellent programming skills in Python, C#, C++, Julia, or similar; solid object-oriented design knowledge
  • Analytical thinking combined with practical research-to-industry bridging ability
  • Excellent communication and networking skills for international/cross-cultural environments
  • Fluent English, written and spoken

Tasks

  • Develop advanced algorithms for grid analysis, control, protection, and optimization
  • Validate concepts through simulation, software prototypes, and demonstrators
  • Integrate solutions with higher-level control systems and external interfaces
  • Gather domain requirements and translate them into use cases and solutions
  • Initiate, lead, and contribute to high-relevance research activities
  • Communicate complex technical results to experts, project partners, and senior management
  • Publish results at scientific conferences and contribute to intellectual property creation
  • Represent ABB in relevant committees and industry forums
  • Build and strengthen strategic partnerships with universities and research institutes
  • Develop innovative solutions and protect them with expertise
  • Work across the full innovation chain from problem definition to project execution
  • Enable new ways of operating, controlling, protecting, and optimizing industrial energy systems
