Requirements

  • Advanced degree in life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, public health or related field (e.g. MD, PharmD, PhD, MSc); MBA or additional degree in health policy, bioethics, or social sciences is a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in patient engagement, advocacy, or related roles in biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
  • Demonstrated success in establishing/scaling global patient engagement/advocacy programs and integrating patient insights into clinical development.
  • Proven track record developing/implementing processes, training, and metrics for excellence, transparency, and compliance.
  • People leadership experience (direct/matrix) with talent coaching and development.
  • Experience collaborating with oncology patient organizations/advocacy groups.
  • Experience navigating resource-constrained environments.
  • Familiarity with digital engagement platforms, social listening tools, and data analytics.
  • Strategic thinking for long-term patient engagement roadmaps aligned with science and business objectives.
  • Relationship building and exceptional interpersonal skills; trusted partner to patient communities and internal stakeholders.
  • Clear, empathetic, and persuasive communication across diverse audiences and cultures.
  • Project management; organized to manage multiple projects, vendors, and budgets.
  • Deep understanding of global regulations governing patient and advocacy group interactions.
  • Analytical mindset; skilled in translating qualitative feedback and quantitative data into actionable insights.
  • Leadership; inspires and motivates cross-functional teams; fosters patient-centric excellence culture.
  • Problem-solving; anticipates challenges and delivers pragmatic, patient-focused solutions.
  • Up to 40% global travel, including international and regional meetings, congresses and patient organization events.

Tasks

  • Expand and elevate patient-centric culture globally
  • Support best-in-class processes across all geographies
  • Implement tools and metrics for excellence in execution
  • Embed patient insights into strategic decision-making
  • Partner with U.S. Patient Engagement & Advocacy teams
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Market Access
  • Build and execute global patient engagement roadmap
  • Identify and prioritize relationships with international patient organizations
  • Cultivate relationships with advocacy groups and key opinion leaders
  • Serve as primary contact for ex-U.S. partners and international organizations
  • Co-create patient-focused initiatives and research collaborations
  • Ensure worldwide consistency in messaging and ethical standards
  • Identify gaps and initiate patient experience data projects
  • Develop meaningful patient preference studies
  • Integrate patient perspectives into study design and evidence generation
  • Incorporate patient insights into health-technology assessment dossiers
  • Integrate patient perspectives into launch plans
  • Establish framework for stakeholder mapping and patient insights collection
  • Document and disseminate patient insights across product lifecycle
  • Work with compliance teams to create guidance documents
  • Develop dashboards and analytics for patient insights
  • Translate patient insights into actionable recommendations
  • Champion continuous listening and feedback loops
  • Design global training curricula for patient-focused drug development
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for patient engagement
  • Create toolkits for contracting, grant management, and materials review
  • Define KPIs for patient engagement impact and quality
  • Report progress to governance bodies
  • Oversee configuration and maintenance of patient engagement platforms
  • Foster user adoption of patient engagement tools
  • Build and mentor a high-performing global patient engagement team
  • Provide clear objectives and professional development
  • Foster inclusive culture of innovation and accountability
  • Manage external agencies and consultants
