Requirements

  • Advanced degree in life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, public health or related field (e.g. MD, PharmD, PhD, MSc); MBA or additional degree in health policy, bioethics, or social sciences is a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in patient engagement, advocacy, or related roles in biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
  • Success in scaling global patient engagement/advocacy programs and integrating patient insights into clinical development.
  • Proven track record developing and implementing processes, training, and metrics for excellence, transparency, and compliance.
  • People leadership experience (direct/matrix) with strong talent coaching and development.
  • Experience collaborating with oncology-focused patient organizations and/or advocacy groups.
  • Prior work navigating resource-constrained environments.
  • Familiarity with digital engagement platforms, social listening tools, and data analytics.
  • Strategic thinking: Ability to craft long-term patient engagement roadmaps aligning with science and business objectives.
  • Relationship building: Exceptional interpersonal skills; trusted partner to patient communities and internal stakeholders.
  • Communication: Clear, empathetic, and persuasive communicator across diverse audiences and cultures.
  • Project management: Highly organized; able to manage multiple projects, vendors, and budgets simultaneously.
  • Compliance savvy: Deep understanding of global regulations governing interactions with patients and advocacy groups.
  • Analytical mindset: Skilled in translating qualitative feedback and quantitative data into actionable insights.
  • Leadership: Inspires and motivates cross-functional teams; fosters a culture of patient-centric excellence.
  • Problem-solving: Anticipates challenges and delivers pragmatic, patient-focused solutions.
  • Up to 40% global travel, including international and regional meetings, congresses and patient organization events.

  • Implement tools and metrics for excellence in execution
  • Embed patient insights into strategic decision making
  • Partner with U.S. Patient Engagement & Advocacy and other teams
  • Build and execute global patient engagement roadmap
  • Identify and prioritize relationships with international patient organizations
  • Serve as primary contact for ex-U.S. partners and organizations
  • Co-create patient-focused initiatives for mutual value
  • Ensure worldwide consistency in messaging and ethical standards
  • Identify gaps and initiate projects for patient experience data
  • Integrate patient perspectives into study design and evidence generation
  • Establish framework for stakeholder mapping and patient insights
  • Work with compliance teams on engagement guidance and transparency
  • Develop dashboards and analytics for patient insights
  • Champion continuous listening and feedback loops
  • Design global training curricula for patient-focused drug development
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for patient engagement practices
  • Define KPIs and metrics for patient engagement impact
  • Serve as business owner for patient engagement platforms
  • Build and mentor a high-performing global patient engagement team
  • Foster inclusive culture of innovation and accountability
  • Manage external agencies and consultants for additional support
