Requirements

  • Master's or PhD in Physics, Materials Science, or related field
  • Focus on X-ray diffraction, synchrotron techniques, or thin-film characterization
  • Experience with synchrotron-based scattering and imaging methods
  • Experience with grazing-incidence diffraction, X-ray diffraction imaging
  • Strong data-analysis skills of large datasets
  • Familiarity with vacuum systems advantageous
  • Familiarity with Computer-aided design advantageous
  • Familiarity with laser-based experiments advantageous
  • Self-management skills
  • Ability to actively coordinate scientists, technicians, and students
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Knowledge of German beneficial

  • Achieve picosecond-to-millisecond temporal resolution
  • Develop multilayer Laue lenses
  • Implement surface-enhanced FF-XDM
  • Conduct operando characterization studies
  • Study local laser annealing processes
  • Analyze dislocation dynamics
  • Investigate surface acoustic wave propagation
  • Implement grazing-incidence FF-XDM
  • Develop vacuum-compatible sample environment
  • Perform in-situ local laser annealing
  • Image real-time surface-near processes
  • Study plastic relaxation in thin films
  • Examine crystallization processes
  • Investigate ferroelectricity
