Requirements

  • Master's degree or PhD or equivalent relevant experience in Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or related field
  • Solid foundation in nuclear and/or radiation physics
  • Proven experience in radiological environmental impact assessments, or ability to master rapidly
  • Familiarity with ICRP radiation protection framework
  • Proficiency in C++ or Python, or capacity to acquire expertise
  • Advantageous: Experience with high-performance computing and Linux
  • Advantageous: Experience with Monte-Carlo particle transport codes and/or radiation environmental impact codes
  • Environmental protection: assessment of radiation environments, external doses calculation
  • Knowledge and application of ionising radiation instrumentation and measurement techniques
  • Knowledge of dosimetry in mixed radiation fields
  • Study of radiation protection design
  • Knowledge of regulatory framework and best practice in radiation protection, environmental radiation protection, national/European legislation
  • Teamwork skills
  • Structured and organised approach, priority setting, results-oriented planning
  • Effective communication
  • Continuous learning and knowledge sharing
  • Spoken and written English, commitment to learn French
  • Work in Radiation Areas
  • Interventions in underground installations
  • Valid driving licence

Tasks

  • Assess and enforce compliance with Radiation Protection regulations.
  • Conduct studies and optimize designs for the FCC Project.
  • Monitor project developments for radiation protection.
  • Calculate public radiation doses using established models.
  • Lead or participate in RP research and development.
  • Develop, use, and maintain radiological assessment models and tools.
  • Produce and edit legal, technical, and scientific documentation.
  • Provide expertise on radiation protection for future accelerators.
  • Advise on environmental aspects of future experiments.
  • Present assessments to host state authorities.
  • Supervise and coordinate postdocs and students.
