R&D and TS&D Laboratory specialist(m/w/x)
Laboratory testing of polyurethane and silane adhesive technologies for automotive manufacturing at materials innovation firm. Proven experience with polyurethane adhesives in automotive applications, English and German proficiency required. Cross-functional collaboration with sales, marketing, production, engineering, and quality assurance.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Material Science, or related technical field
- Proven experience in polyurethane-based adhesive technologies and adhesive applications in transportation, particularly in automotive sector
- Proficiency in English and German; knowledge of additional languages advantageous
- Analytical mindset with effective problem-solving capabilities and technical knowledge in service operations
- Self-motivation and exceptional interpersonal skills for collaboration with stakeholders
- Familiarity with software for statistical analysis and data visualization such as JMP, understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE) principles, and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
Tasks
- Advance adhesive technologies using polyurethane and silane chemistry
- Ensure products meet automotive manufacturing standards and performance requirements
- Conduct adhesive testing and operate testing equipment
- Understand OEM and Tier supplier quality standards in transportation
- Communicate and collaborate across sales, marketing, production, engineering, and quality assurance
- Develop new products and improve mechanical testing procedures
- Market adhesive products and address customer complaints
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
- Qualify multiple raw material alternatives for supply security
- Provide technical guidance to Procurement and Product Management
- Coordinate raw material analyses and oversee qualification of new sources
- Support localization projects to meet customer-specific needs
- Adapt products for local regulatory requirements and market preferences
- Assist in scale-up activities during commercial product launches
- Facilitate technology transfer to new production sites
- Engage with production and quality assurance teams for improvements
- Collaborate with engineering to enhance mechanical testing processes
- Execute lab work in compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical claims using analytical material characterization
- Design and implement new testing methodologies for technical challenges
- Identify gaps in evaluation processes and create reliable test protocols
