Propulsion Design Engineer(m/w/x)
Designing rocket engine components with CAD for sustainable launch solutions. 2+ years of propulsion systems experience required. Virtual company share program, 30 days vacation.
Requirements
- M.Sc. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
- 2+ years of experience in propulsion systems design, analysis, or testing
- Experience with rocket engine or gas turbine component development
- Hands-on experience in testing preparation and operation, post-test data reviews
- Experience with cryogenic fluids and oxygen compatibility
- Exceptional comprehension of engineering fundamentals: fluid dynamics, combustion, heat transfer
- Proficiency in 3D CAD programs (SolidWorks & SiemensNX preferred)
- Proficiency in Python, Matlab, or similar programming language
- Passion for rocket propulsion and space
- Ability to collaborate on multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams
- Highly organized and proactive with high attention to detail
- Driven and eager to learn
- Willingness to travel in support of launching and testing hardware
- Experience with numerical tools (ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS Fluent/STAR-CCM+)
- Working knowledge of engine fluid components (valves, pressure regulators)
- Experience in manufacturing
Tasks
- Support combustion team in designing rocket engine components
- Design and analyze combustion device components using CAD
- Participate in full design cycle from layout to testing
- Collaborate with production to ensure design manufacturability
- Track manufacturing status of critical components
- Develop and refine design tools for combustion components
- Perform CFD calculations for combustion device parts
- Ensure component and system performance through testing
- Optimize thrust chamber, gas generator, and ignition system parts
- Reduce weight and improve manufacturability of components
