Project Manager for Investment and Improvement Projects(m/w/x)
Overseeing acquisition and upgrade projects for production machinery, equipment, and facilities at a global science solutions provider. Extensive engineering experience with project management, preferably in diagnostic or medical devices, required. Diverse project portfolio with strategic site development focus.
Requirements
- University degree in mechanical engineering, quality engineering, applied sciences, or equivalent practical expertise
- Many years of experience in engineering including some years in project management, preferably in diagnostic or medical device area
- Experience in operational settings, preferably in production, process development, and/or validation/qualification management
- Ability to develop business cases, manage budgets, and perform financial forecasting
- Familiarity with lean principles and continuous improvement tools
- Experience in a global and/or cross-functional environment
- Experience with Quality Management Systems, preferably ISO13485/GMP
- Strong leadership skills for project management and project teams
- Strong professional communication skills with a self-reliant, structured, and solution-oriented mindset
- Open-minded and flexible to act agile in a changing environment
- Team-player with high competence in connecting, motivating, and inclusion of distributed teams
- Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken
Tasks
- Manage a diverse portfolio of operational projects
- Acquire new production machinery and equipment
- Upgrade and relocate existing machinery and equipment
- Oversee new production facility projects within site master planning
- Implement capacity expansion and quality improvement initiatives
- Develop business continuity measures
- Lead operations investment projects from planning to execution
- Ensure compliance with the quality management system (ISO 13485)
- Oversee concept studies, user requirement specifications, and design phases
- Manage commissioning and qualification/process validation
- Monitor and communicate project status, timelines, risks, and scope changes
- Allocate resources effectively and manage project budgets
- Facilitate project team and steering group meetings
- Report KPIs and escalate issues to steering groups
- Lead projects focused on operational efficiency and quality improvements
- Develop business cases to optimize processes and reduce costs
- Apply lean principles to streamline workflows
- Assess outsourcing opportunities to enhance productivity
- Build strong cross-functional relationships with various departments
- Support validation strategies and risk assessments with SMEs
- Collaborate with global project managers and engineering teams
