Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in industrial production or plant engineering (biotech, fermentation, food, or chemical industry)
- Experience in process troubleshooting and optimization in manufacturing
- Ability to work independently and manage operational topics with external partners
- Willingness to travel regularly to production sites
- Willingness to relocate to Halle/Leipzig area
- Fluent in German and English
Tasks
- Own production at CMO
- Act as primary operational and technical counterpart at CMO
- Manage production activities with high autonomy
- Travel regularly to CMO for 3–5 days, 1–2 times per month
- Support production campaigns, resolve issues, align priorities
- Monitor process performance, identify bottlenecks
- Drive improvements in throughput, yield, quality, and robustness
- Troubleshoot deviations and scale-up challenges
- Collaborate with internal and external teams
- Build expertise in large-scale manufacturing
- Support design and commissioning of first industrial plant
- Work with Site Manager to translate process needs
- Contribute to equipment selection, operational concepts
- Participate in process layout, site readiness, ramp-up planning
- Ensure operational mindset in project phases
- Grow into plant leadership role
- Assist and substitute for Site Manager
- Increase responsibility in operations, process engineering
- Help build systems, discipline, and culture
- Develop toward Assistant Plant Manager role
- Prepare for broader site leadership
