Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- PhD is an advantage
- Subject Matter Expert in tilting and rotating furnace design
- Expertise in delivery and operation of tilting and rotating furnaces
- Leadership as technical authority, senior specialist, or project lead
- Strong technical knowledge of rotating machinery, hydraulics, gear drives, burners/lances, and high temperature mechanical design
- Refractory knowledge is an asset
- Experience delivering full mechanical systems
- Supporting EPCM and equipment Design & Supply projects
- Ability to apply sound engineering judgment
- Ability to challenge designs
- Ability to interpret complex mechanical analyses
- Strong communication skills
- Collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams and client organizations
- Encouragement to apply even if past experiences don't perfectly align
Tasks
- Serve as global mechanical subject matter expert for rotating and tilting furnace equipment
- Support business development with technical expertise for custom equipment solutions
- Lead global tilting and rotating furnace equipment engineering team
- Ensure technical excellence and team leadership
- Plan resources, develop skills, mentor, and manage performance
- Maintain technical responsibility for detailed design, delivery, and commissioning
- Design advanced mechanical engineering packages
- Integrate crucible design and refractory materials
- Develop hydraulic systems, sealing systems, burners, and lances
- Design offgas interfaces and gas interfaces
- Drive research, innovation, and product development in furnace designs
- Maintain relationships with fabricators and vendors
- Ensure high-quality, cost-effective equipment design and fabrication
- Conduct FAT/SAT activities
- Provide technical assistance for plant integration
- Support equipment erection, installation, commissioning, and start-up
- Ensure operational readiness of systems
- Work with asset performance management teams
- Improve ongoing performance and operations
- Manage mechanical integrity, process, and reliability
- Conduct root cause analysis investigations
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Mentor engineers
- Build next generation of pyrometallurgical equipment expertise
