Requirements

  • Deep understanding of PostgreSQL internals
  • Understanding of data integrity and availability importance
  • Ability to create scalable data models
  • Comfortable taking ownership of database landscape
  • Ability to explain architectural trade-offs
  • Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL index design and tuning
  • Experience designing streaming replication and clustering
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-managed PostgreSQL and Linux
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD
  • Expertise in complex SQL queries and functions
  • Experience building database monitoring and alerting
  • Compliance experience with PCI DSS or GDPR
  • Familiarity with Redis, BigQuery, or other data systems
  • Experience with connection pooling tools beyond PgBouncer
  • Deep knowledge of secure secrets management

  • Drive high availability and disaster recovery strategies
  • Ensure RPO/RTO targets for core banking systems
  • Define and execute scalability roadmap
  • Implement partitioning and sharding strategies
  • Conduct capacity forecasting
  • Perform deep-dive query optimization
  • Analyze execution plans
  • Remediate performance bottlenecks proactively
  • Build scalable inference and connection pooling strategies
  • Manage robust backup and restore automations
  • Design monitoring architecture using Prometheus, Grafana, VictoriaMetrics
  • Define SLIs/SLOs for database health
  • Implement banking-grade security practices
  • Manage credential security
  • Handle compliance-aligned data
  • Collaborate with product teams on database schema changes
  • Support high-load environment through architectural decisions
  • Mentor and set technical standards for DBA function
  • Participate in hands-on implementation
