Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- PhD is an advantage
- 15+ years heavy mechanical engineering experience
- Experience in smelting, converting, pyrometallurgy, or high temperature rotating/tilting equipment
- Subject Matter Expert in tilting and rotating furnace design
- Proven expertise in delivery and operation of tilting and rotating furnaces
- Demonstrated leadership as technical authority, senior specialist, or project lead
- Strong technical knowledge of rotating machinery, hydraulics, gear drives, burners/lances
- Strong technical knowledge of high temperature mechanical design
- Refractory knowledge is an asset
- Experience delivering full mechanical systems
- Experience supporting EPCM and equipment Design & Supply projects
- Ability to apply sound engineering judgment
- Ability to challenge designs
- Ability to interpret complex mechanical analyses
- Strong communication skills
- Strong collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams and client organizations
- English proficiency
Tasks
- Serve as global mechanical subject matter expert for rotating and tilting furnace technologies
- Support business development with technical expertise for custom solutions
- Lead global tilting and rotating furnace engineering practice
- Establish and maintain design standards and engineering guidelines
- Ensure quality assurance and best practices
- Maintain technical responsibility for detail design, delivery, and commissioning
- Oversee advanced mechanical engineering packages
- Design and integrate crucibles and refractories
- Develop hydraulic, sealing, burner, and offgas systems
- Drive research, innovation, and product development
- Maintain relationships with fabricators and vendors
- Ensure high-quality, cost-effective equipment design and fabrication
- Conduct FAT/SAT activities
- Provide technical assistance during plant integration
- Support equipment erection, installation, commissioning, and start-up
- Ensure operational readiness of systems
- Work with asset performance management teams
- Improve mechanical integrity, process reliability, and root cause analysis
- Mentor engineers and build next-generation expertise
