Requirements

  • Master's degree in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field with at least 3 years of industry experience
  • PhD with industry-relevant projects and engineering tasks, plus at least 1 year of post-PhD experience
  • Integrated photonics design and large-scale PIC layout experience
  • Coordinating multi-project tape-outs (DRC, documentation, release)
  • Interfacing with foundries on process constraints
  • Photonic simulation (FDTD, eigenmode expansion, circuit-level) proficiency
  • PIC layout tooling proficiency
  • Solid device physics understanding
  • PDK development experience (plus)
  • Strong Python skills for automation, verification, and design flow improvement
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Ownership of delivery
  • Driving risks to resolution

Tasks

  • Own and drive end-to-end tape-outs
  • Lead circuit coordination for tape-outs
  • Manage layout integration for tape-outs
  • Obtain DRC sign-off
  • Prepare documentation for release
  • Ensure release readiness across projects
  • Act as primary interface to foundries
  • Liaise with external fabrication partners
  • Align designs to process constraints
  • Resolve design rule conflicts
  • Ensure correct fabrication execution
  • Contribute to PDK development
  • Validate PDKs
  • Improve design workflow through automation
  • Implement layout reuse
  • Enhance review practices
  • Mentor junior engineers on photonic layout
  • Mentor junior engineers on verification
  • Mentor junior engineers on tape-out best practices
  • Spread a culture of rigor
  • Promote ownership across the PIC team
  • Feed design insights into technology roadmap
  • Propose new photonic components
  • Suggest optimization strategies
