Requirements

  • Masters’ Degree in Electrical Engineering, Communication and Signal Processing, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent
  • Fluency in English; fluency in German is a plus
  • First practical experience in Satellite Communication or Satellite Navigation
  • Deep knowledge of digital signal processing and RF channel modelling
  • Skill to transform signal processing and RF-chain models into clean Matlab scripts
  • Good knowledge of GNSS signals
  • Hands-on experience with FPGA programming; ideally VHDL knowledge

Tasks

  • Analyze and improve digital beamforming
  • Evaluate architectural concepts
  • Define efficient beamforming processing for low distortions
  • Enhance robustness to RF chain and navigation antenna performance variations
  • Analyze and improve on-board autonomous signal distortion equalization techniques
  • Model non-linear, frequency-dependent channel characteristics of high-power amplifiers
  • Define improved equalization techniques for GNSS signals in digital beam-formed payloads
  • Deepen understanding of SiS performance for small bandwidth signals
  • Model navigation signal generator, beamforming, equalization, RF payload, and navigation antenna
  • Develop a Matlab-based simulator
  • Validate designs on hardware
  • Implement solutions in hardware, software, and FPGA, followed by validation
  • Conduct trade-offs for space implementation, including functional architecture with space-grade FPGAs
  • Implement in COTS hardware, FPGA, and software
  • Validate with on-ground demonstrator
