Packaging & Filling Engineering Design Manager(m/w/x)
Defining global packaging equipment design strategy and filling technology standards for FMCG. Deep technical expertise in packaging equipment, GMP, and automation required. Hybrid work, 4-day work week.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Process, Mechatronics, or Packaging Engineering
- Master’s degree considered an advantage
- Strong experience in packaging engineering, filling systems, or packaging technology
- Experience in FMCG, Food & Beverage, or Dairy environments
- Deep technical expertise in packaging equipment, materials, GMP, food safety, and automation
- Experience developing URS documents, technical standards, and equipment specifications
- Understanding of sustainability and ESG requirements
- At least 10 years of relevant engineering experience
- Strong track record managing mid- to large-scale Capex projects above €5 million
- Experience working with suppliers, OEMs, and cross-functional teams
- Delivered innovation or technology deployment projects in complex, international environments
- Confident working across multiple stakeholders and functions
- Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
- Comfortable working independently while aligning global teams
- Fluent in English
- Additional European languages seen as a plus
- Willingness to travel regularly

Tasks
- Define global packaging equipment design strategy
- Develop filling and packing technology standards
- Lead packaging innovation initiatives
- Shape technical standards for global engineering
- Drive deployment of new packaging solutions
- Ensure packaging platforms meet future requirements
- Collaborate with R&D, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Procurement
- Define and deliver packaging technology roadmap
- Lead development of URS documents and scope definitions
- Create design standards for packaging equipment
- Translate innovation and sustainability into engineering specs
- Ensure consistency, safety, quality, and performance
- Scout and evaluate new automation and digital solutions
- Focus on sustainability and energy efficiency
- Reduce waste and promote circularity in packaging
- Lead selected Capex projects from feasibility to start-up
- Support procurement and FAT processes
- Commission and start up new packaging systems
- Troubleshoot and optimize manufacturing processes
- Improve capacity and OEE in packaging operations
- Debottleneck packaging systems for efficiency
