Requirements

  • Studies in (techno-)mathematics, aerospace engineering, computational engineering science, or comparable field
  • Knowledge in numerical solution of partial differential equations
  • Advantageous knowledge in mathematical modeling
  • Basic programming knowledge in Python, Julia, Matlab, C++, or comparable languages
  • Good language skills in German or English
  • High motivation and independence

Tasks

  • Develop simulation code using the discontinuous Galerkin method.
  • Implement various numerical methods.
  • Assess method impact on stability, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Vary model assumptions for propellant combustion.
  • Compare results with experimental data.
  • Familiarize with solid propellant combustion modeling.
  • Familiarize with the extended discontinuous Galerkin method.
  • Familiarize with the Julia programming language.
  • Implement different numerical fluxes.
  • Discretize modified mathematical models.
  • Evaluate numerical results.
