Requirements

  • Student in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Data Science
  • Interest in experimental aerodynamics and fluid dynamics
  • Basic understanding of thermodynamics or icing physics
  • Experience with data analysis and programming (Python, MATLAB, or R)
  • Knowledge of statistical modeling (Time Series Analysis, Markov Chains, or Regression models)
  • Awareness of compliance risks and commitment to act with integrity

Tasks

  • Conduct extensive experiments in the icing wind tunnel
  • Quantify ice buildup and shedding on propellers
  • Translate findings into a predictive icing model
  • Define test matrices for environmental parameters
  • Operate the icing tunnel for experiments
  • Record ice accretion using high-speed imaging
  • Measure performance degradation with load cells
  • Develop a data-driven model for icing evolution
