Lead Mechanical Engineer(m/w/x)
Designing marine robotics systems, from concept to production, with focus on underwater constraints. Experience with ROVs/AUVs and CAD/PLM tools required. VSOP options, relocation support, and temporary accommodation provided.
Requirements
- Design and delivery of mechanical systems for underwater robotics, ROVs, AUVs, or similar
- Guidance and mentorship of engineers
- Proficiency with 3D/2D CAD and PLM tools (SolidWorks/PDM, Siemens NX/Teamcenter)
- Rigorous application of ASME/ISO drawing standards
- Understanding of underwater maritime domain constraints (pressure, corrosion, hydrodynamics)
- Clear and precise English communication (written and verbal)
- Encouraged to apply even if not meeting all qualifications
- Practical knowledge of hydrodynamics and CFD
- Experience applying simulation to inform design decisions
- Familiarity with underwater actuators and sensor systems
- Familiarity with brushed and brushless motors, servomotors, or magnetic coupling
Tasks
- Lead mechanical architecture of marine robotics systems
- Guide engineers from concept to delivery
- Shape system robustness, scalability, and performance
- Design parts and assemblies from concept to production
- Ensure form, fit, and function across systems
- Set technical direction for hydrodynamic performance
- Enhance manoeuvrability and reliability of underwater systems
- Mentor and guide a small team of engineers
- Review and support team's work
- Maintain consistency in technical decisions
- Define and execute validation test programmes
- Ensure designs meet rigorous standards
- Produce comprehensive design documentation
- Follow ASME/ISO drawing standards
- Use 3D/2D CAD and PLM tools
