Laboratory Officer (Bioinformatics / Computational Biology)(m/w/x)
Setting up computational workflows for genome/transcriptome assembly and annotation, analyzing single-cell genomic data from planarian species at a world-leading scientific research institution. Ph.D. in bioinformatics or related field, or 5 years computational biology experience, with prior genomics data analysis required. Monthly family, child, and non-resident allowances.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in computer science, bioinformatics, biostatistics, or related field, or at least five years of professional experience as a computational biologist
- Prior experience in genomics data analysis, including genome assembly and annotation, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, DNA-seq, or single-cell adaptations
- Strong proficiency in R, scripting languages (e.g. Python), and Unix/Linux command line
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a hybrid lab environment
- Organizational skills, open-mindedness, and enthusiasm in communication
- Ability to manage multiple projects and interact productively with diverse teams
- Working knowledge of English
- Experience with multi-omics data integration
- Familiarity with machine learning methods and approaches
- Previous experience working with non-model organisms
- Understanding of molecular and sequencing techniques used in single-cell genomics
Tasks
- Set up computational workflows for genome and transcriptome assembly and annotation across different planarian species
- Develop pipelines for processing and analyzing bulk and single-cell genomic data
- Explore and implement data integration methods for cross-species comparisons of single-cell genomic data
- Analyze single-cell datasets from multiple planarian species to identify species-specific differences in allometry and associated molecular programs
- Onboard new lab members and coordinate lab tasks
- Manage reagent and equipment orders to ensure smooth lab operations
