Research Software Engineer - Spatial-omics(m/w/x)

Requirements
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field, or proven equivalent experience
- Knowledge of Python libraries: dask, xarray, geopandas, zarr, ome-zarr, napari, AnnData, Scanpy, SpatialData, or other scverse software
- Curiosity-driven mindset toward new methods and tech
- Passion for open-source software and commitment to reducing adoption barriers
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Proven ability to work creatively and rigorously in a team environment
- Fluency in English
- Experience contributing to open-source projects, using git and familiar with GitHub workflows
- Background in user support (software support, scientific support)
- Bioinformatics experience in single-cell and spatial biology with a learning mindset
- Experience in organising and delivering scientific workshops
Tasks
- Develop software to enhance the SpatialData framework's robustness and scalability
- Maintain the SpatialData framework, focusing on refactoring code for stability and easier maintenance
- Contribute to the Next Generation File Format (NGFF) and OME-Zarr specifications for bioimaging data
- Set up, test, and ensure the smooth operation of continuous integration and automation systems
- Improve documentation, example notebooks, and training materials for the SpatialData framework
