Inspecting electrical installations on new build cruise ships for shipyard and classification society compliance. 5 years marine electrical systems or shipbuilding experience required. Inspections across global project sites.
Requirements
- 5 years experience in marine electrical systems, shipbuilding, or new build supervision
- Knowledge of classification society rules and IMO regulations
- Experience with ship electrical systems (power distribution, automation, lighting, safety)
- Previous involvement in shipyard inspections, commissioning, quality control (preferred)
- Familiarity with electrical drawings, schematics, system integration
- Strong understanding of low and high-voltage ship electrical systems
- Expertise in cable routing, switchboards, transformers, emergency/propulsion electrical systems
- Familiarity with PLCs, automation, and control systems
- Understanding of shipyard processes, installation standards, quality control
- Attention to detail for issue identification and compliance
- Problem-solving skills for electrical system issues
- Communication skills for coordination with teams, subcontractors, project managers
- Adaptability in fast-paced shipyard environment
- Project management skills for tracking, reporting, and non-conformity resolution
- Willingness to travel frequently
- Prior experience with cruise ship new builds or major refits (highly desirable)
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related technical field
Tasks
- Inspect electrical installations for new building specifications.
- Verify installations meet shipyard electrical requirements.
- Ensure compliance with classification society rules.
- Check installations against statutory requirements.
- Confirm adherence to Flag State rules and regulations.
- Validate compliance with International standards.
- Assess installations against quality standards.
- Confirm installations meet safety standards.
- Inspect installation of cabling and electrical equipment.
- Inspect commissioning of cabling and electrical equipment.
- Verify installations comply with approved drawings.
- Verify installations meet technical specifications.
- Verify installations follow manufacturer recommendations.
- Examine electrical parts and assemblies for completeness.
- Assess quality of electrical parts and assemblies.
- Verify electrical parts conform to drawings.
- Ensure electrical parts meet specifications.
- Inspect wiring for accurate stripping, soldering, and crimping.
- Identify wiring defects like frayed or loose connections.
- Provide technical and background information to Superintendents.
- Report potential problems to Superintendents.
- Attend required Factory Acceptance Tests.
- Ensure tests comply with regulations and standards.
- Review and remark on drawings via Enovia and BlueBeam.
- Collaborate with shipyard project managers.
- Collaborate with manufacturer representatives.
- Ensure provisions meet specifications and Disney requirements.
- Maintain relationships with team Project Managers.
- Assist and advise Project Managers on electrical issues.
- Perform other assigned duties.
