Requirements

  • Citizenship in an eligible country for DAAD-EPOS scholarship
  • Excellent academic profile with Master's degree (grade 2.5 or better)
  • Completed master's degree relevant to topic (max 6 years old)
  • At least two years relevant work experience post-Bachelor's
  • Not stayed in Germany > 15 months at application deadline
  • Fluency in English language
  • Sound scientific knowledge and methodological skills
  • Experience in trans-/interdisciplinary research
  • Interest/experience in sustainability or development cooperation or Resource Nexus
  • Capacity to structure complex tasks and analytical abilities
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Strong planning, organization, and time management skills
  • Flexibility to establish priorities and work within timeframes
  • Excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of German and/or another UN official language is an asset

Tasks

  • Conduct high-level research and scientific writing
  • Complete doctoral curriculum modules on the Resource Nexus
  • Develop and implement a robust research approach
  • Produce and publish peer-reviewed scientific articles
  • Prepare and defend a cumulative dissertation
  • Participate in NEXtra doctoral cohort activities
  • Maintain up-to-date project information
  • Adhere to research integrity and academic practices
  • Allocate time to educational initiatives
  • Complete required doctoral curriculum
  • Deliver annual lectures for programs like CIPSEM
  • Contribute to educational material development
  • Support Master’s student lecturing and supervision
  • Engage in advocacy and outreach activities
  • Identify and engage with UN system contacts
  • Translate research into policy briefs
  • Present findings at scientific and implementation conferences
  • Promote Resource Nexus through social media and communication materials
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervision team
