Requirements

  • Master’s degree in industrial ecology, business and environmental sciences, geography, environmental engineering, sustainability assessment, bioeconomy, or related discipline
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary research on land use, climate change, biodiversity, and sustainable value chains
  • Experience with GIS, spatial data analysis, quantitative modelling, or sustainability-assessment methods is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with MCDA, scenario analysis, land-use systems, or bioeconomy research would be advantageous
  • Very good written and spoken English
  • Willingness to work in an international research environment
  • 12-month research placement
  • Contribution to scientific publication and dissemination activities

  • Analyse competing biomass-utilisation pathways
  • Develop robust decision-support tools
  • Combine GIS, scenario analysis, and MCDA
  • Assess ecological, economic, and policy conditions
  • Evaluate land-use and policy scenarios
  • Systematically assess trade-offs and co-benefits
  • Identify alternative land-use configurations
  • Compare biomass pathways
  • Derive implications for land-use governance
  • Contribute to sustainability standards
  • Support strategic planning in the bioeconomy
  • Work with spatial datasets
