Data Architect / Knowledge Engineer(m/w/x)

- Experience with CI/CD data pipelines
- Experience with data quality practices
- Experience with version control frameworks (GitHub/GitLab)
- Effective work with multiple stakeholders
- International setting work experience
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Experience in bioimaging or life sciences data handling
- Experience in life sciences metadata handling
- Knowledge graph experience
- Semantic web experience
- Linked data standards experience (RDF, SPARQL, SHACL)
- Hybrid retrieval approaches experience (GraphRAG)
- Experience with graph databases (Neo4J)
- Experience with research infrastructures
- Experience with FAIR data practices
- Experience managing service catalogues in scientific environments
- Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker)
- Hands-on experience with orchestration (Kubernetes)
Tasks
- Design and set up the database and data ingestion pipeline
- Maintain the AI4Access ontology-driven knowledge base
- Work with the Euro-BioImaging Bio-Hub team on ontology development
- Develop knowledge graphs with the Euro-BioImaging community
- Create technical interfaces between the knowledge base and Research Navigator
- Integrate the knowledge base with Euro-BioImaging Nodes’ systems
- Design an ontology-aligned data model
- Implement the data model’s technical representation
- Version and document the data model
- Translate service descriptions into structured form
- Collaborate with imaging specialists and Node-facing colleagues
- Support integration of semantic and metadata elements
- Work with domain experts on controlled vocabularies and identifiers
- Develop and maintain automated ETL workflows
- Handle data collection, annotations, transformations, and validation
- Ensure repeatable data updates
- Implement robust APIs for LLM applications
- Optimize APIs for querying services, capabilities, and constraints
- Ensure high reliability and transparency in API queries
- Collaborate with the Seat team on integration and testing
- Participate in release planning and technical documentation
