Requirements
- Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related field (PhD preferred)
- Minimum 7+ years hands-on experience in coating processes
- Expertise in metal coating technologies (electroplating, PVD, CVD, electroless plating)
- Expertise in plasma-based systems (PECVD)
- Strong understanding of plasma physics
- Strong understanding of plasma generation
- Strong understanding of plasma-chemical reactions
- Strong understanding of C-H (carbon-hydrogen) coating synthesis
- Demonstrated experience developing high-throughput coating processes
- Demonstrated experience scaling laboratory processes to production
- Proven ability in process development and optimization
- Proven ability in quality, uniformity, and throughput optimization
- Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of adhesion mechanisms
- Knowledge of coating defects
- Knowledge of surface preparation
- Knowledge of substrate pretreatment for plastics
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong technical writing skills
- Strong communication skills for documentation and collaboration
- Direct experience with metal coating on organic material
- Hands-on experience with RF-PECVD systems
- Hands-on experience with microwave-PECVD systems
- Hands-on experience with ICP plasma systems
- Track record developing high-uniformity coatings for spherical geometries
- Track record developing high-uniformity coatings for complex geometries
- Track record developing coatings at production scale
- Familiarity with vacuum systems
- Familiarity with automated handling systems
- Familiarity with robotic coating systems
- PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Physics
Tasks
- Lead development of high-throughput coating processes
- Ensure uniform thickness and minimal defects
- Design plasma systems for C-H coatings
- Optimize plasma generation and precursor gas selection
- Define metallic coating processes for uniformity
- Implement multi-layer coating strategies
- Establish quality standards and testing methods
- Implement statistical process control
- Serve as technical authority on coating matters
- Provide expertise in coating chemistry and plasma physics
- Evaluate and specify coating equipment
- Collaborate with suppliers for system customization
- Work with cross-functional teams for process alignment
- Produce technical documentation and procedures
- Support commissioning and troubleshooting
- Drive continuous process improvement and innovation
