Body System (BIW & Closures) Expert(m/w/x)
Costing analyses for automotive body-in-white and closures. 10+ years automotive cost engineering experience required. Hybrid work, 4-week workation option.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in body system engineering, automotive cost engineering, or automotive purchasing engineering
- Experience working with automotive OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers preferred
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or Mechatronics
- Strong knowledge of body manufacturing processes (stamping, forging, welding, casting, extrusion, painting, assembly)
- Advanced expertise in costing and design-to-cost methodologies
- Strong understanding of vehicle systems, manufacturing processes, and tooling concepts
- Ability to analyze complex engineering systems and cost trade-offs
- Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with internal costing tools is a plus
- Advanced analytical thinking, structured problem-solving, and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills in international and cross-functional environments
- Strong stakeholder management and presentation skills
- Fluent English (written and spoken); French or German is a plus
- Willingness to travel internationally
Tasks
- Deliver high-quality costing analyses
- Provide technical insights on vehicle body systems
- Analyze Body-in-White, closures, and exterior components
- Lead complex body system cost analyses
- Support OEMs and suppliers in understanding cost drivers
- Optimize design-to-cost strategies
- Improve product competitiveness
- Conduct system-level cost analysis
- Apply design-to-cost methodologies
- Utilize cost benchmarking techniques
- Analyze product design and materials
