Requirements

  • Studying mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or a comparable subject
  • Solid understanding of solid mechanics, machining, and measurement techniques
  • Initial experience in using commercial FEM solvers (e.g. Ansys Mechanical, Abaqus)
  • Ability to write basic scripts in Python, Matlab, or a similar language
  • Good language skills in English; German proficiency is a plus

Tasks

  • Investigate the impact of centrifugal forces on clamping forces
  • Derive models from experimental data
  • Perform theoretical calculations on centrifugal force effects
  • Simulate clamping conditions using Finite Element Method (FEM) with Ansys Mechanical
  • Plan and execute experiments to measure clamping forces during operation
