Avionics System Engineer - Electrical Power System(m/w/x)
Designing power generation and distribution for a modular space orbital vehicle. 3-5 years spacecraft power or flight control system development experience required. Relocation assistance, visa sponsorship.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in spacecraft Electrical Power System or avionics system development
- Good understanding of solar array systems, space-qualified batteries, power converters, power distribution architectures, and general electronics
- Proficiency with simulation and software development tools (e.g. Github, Python)
- Familiarity with ECSS/NASA standards and derating rules for space hardware
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills
- Fluency in English and ability to write clear technical specifications and reports
- Experience with spacecraft platforms
- Experience with Lithium-Ion Batteries
- Experience with battery management systems (BMS) and battery failure modes
- Experience with solar arrays design and test for space applications
Tasks
- Define Electrical Power System architecture
- Size and specify solar arrays, batteries, and power units
- Ensure optimal power generation and distribution strategy
- Evaluate and select flight-qualified components
- Support design of power conditioning and distribution units
- Generate technical specifications
- Conduct reliability and redundancy analyses
- Define and execute verification and validation plans
- Support integration with other spacecraft subsystems
- Participate in environmental testing
- Interface with suppliers and internal teams
- Support project development and risk assessment
- Produce detailed documentation for design and compliance
- Ensure compliance with space-grade standards
- Contribute to reviews with customers and certification authorities
