Requirements

  • •Master's degree, Bachelor with honors, or Bachelor's with substantial experience
  • •3-5 years experience with fast rotating machinery
  • •Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics and mechanical design
  • •Strong fundamentals of machine dynamics and rotordynamics
  • •Strong knowledge about bearings and rolling elements
  • •Good knowledge of materials
  • •Understanding of manufacturing methods and constraints
  • •Proficiency in 3D CAD software and drafting
  • •Experience writing software or scripts in Python
  • •Optional hands-on experience developing hardware prototypes
  • •Strong ability to collaborate with others
  • •Strong oral and written communication skills
  • •Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
  • •Strong research and information inference skills
  • •Drive for excellence under time constraints
  • •Proficiency in organization and task prioritization
  • •Behavior consistent with company core values
  • •Enthusiasm for space exploration

Master's degree

Work Experience

3 - 5 years

Tasks

  • •Make and document consequential turbomachinery design decisions
  • •Collaborate with development engineers to refine and validate designs
  • •Execute and review various turbopump architectural trades
  • •Perform rotordynamics analyses to inform cryogenic pump specifications
  • •Design and procure cryogenic pump components based on best practices
  • •Supervise external subcontractors and communicate with suppliers
  • •Model geometric and mechanical problems analytically
  • •Implement technical solutions into programs
