Surface Finishing Technician(m/w/x)
Electroplating prototype and series parts for CERN accelerators using wet chemistry and various substrates. Basic analytical chemistry knowledge required. Work in radiation areas, 40 hours/week.
Requirements
- Exposure to surface finishing processes
- Basic analytical chemistry knowledge
- First laboratory/production/technical experience (advantageous)
- Ability to follow procedures accurately
- Basic capability to document work
- Safety and quality oriented mindset

- Teamwork skills
- Spoken/written English or French, learn other language
- National of CERN Member State
- Max 2 years professional experience post-graduation
- No prior CERN fellow/graduate contract
- Not eligible with Bachelor's/Master's/PhD degree
Tasks
- Perform specialized surface finishing treatments using wet chemistry
- Degrease and etch various substrates including stainless steel, aluminum, and copper
- Electroplate components with gold, rhodium, silver, and copper
- Precision clean mechanical components for vacuum applications
- Etch, electroplate, and electroform prototype and series parts for CERN accelerators
- Maintain and monitor the workshop and waste water treatment plant
- Document work through written procedures and presentations
- Participate in developing and characterizing new processes for CERN projects
Education
- High school diploma
Languages
- English – Business Fluent
- French – Business Fluent
