Superconducting RF Mechanical Engineer(m/w/x)
Designing and integrating superconducting RF cavities and cryomodules for particle accelerators. Experience with cryogenic mechanical systems and CAD/FEA software required. 30 days paid leave, CERN Pension Fund membership.
Requirements
- Master's degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience designing cryogenic mechanical systems
- Knowledge of heat transfer and structural analysis on cryogenic systems
- Experience with CAD tools and FEA software
- Experience with cryogenic systems or superconducting technologies
- Familiarity with pressure vessel design and safety standards
- Familiarity with cleanroom assembly requirements
- Background in scientific instrumentation or large research projects
- Design and construction of cryostats
- Knowledge and application of cryogenic heat transfer and insulation techniques
- Design and analysis of mechanical structures
- Knowledge and application of RF techniques
- Teamwork skills and active participation
- Accountability for own actions and decisions
- Initiative and proactivity in tasks
- Innovative thinking and knowledge sharing
- Flexibility and adaptability to shifting priorities
- Spoken and written English

Tasks
- Design and integrate SRF cavities and systems
- Lead cryomodule assembly processes in clean-room and outside
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams at CERN and partner labs
- Lead cryogenic engineering activities, including thermal performance and safety
- Ensure mechanical designs meet safety and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate design, prototyping, and testing with engineering teams
- Monitor progress and share results through reports and presentations
