Subsystem Engineer – Data Systems, Operations & Advanced Networking Testbeds(m/w/x)
Engineering and operating mission-critical ground systems for satellite communications, including the DaSS in a 24/7 environment. Strong Linux expertise, C/C++/Java programming, and networking concepts experience required. 8 weeks teleworking, flexible start/finish times.
Requirements
- Graduation in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Experience and interest in System Engineering, Networking, Embedded, or Ground Systems
- Strong Linux expertise (preferably SLES) and familiarity with high-availability services
- Solid programming background in C/C++ and Java, with scripting skills (Bash, Python)
- Experience with networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, routing, WAN/MPLS)
- Understanding of hardware/software interfaces and system-level debugging
- Hands-on troubleshooting mindset across software, OS, network, and platform layers
- CCSDS and Satcom standards, protocols, and specifications (CCSDS O3K, ESTOL, DTN, Space Packet, CADU)
- Experience with performance-critical or low-latency systems, testbeds, or protocol benchmarking
- Exposure to SatCom operations, experimental networking, or research-driven prototyping
- Ability to bridge operational systems with R&D and future-oriented technology validation
- Software design and development skills
- Algorithm development skills
- Fluent English (C1 or higher)
Tasks
- Develop and operate mission-critical ground data systems
- Develop and operate advanced SatCom networking testbeds
- Operate and maintain the Data Services System (DaSS) in a 24/7 mission-critical environment
- Monitor system behavior
- Diagnose complex faults across software, networking, and platform layers
- Perform root cause analysis
- Design, implement, and operate SatCom networking testbeds
- Validate emerging technologies, data transfer protocols, and space networking concepts
- Evaluate and prototype advanced communication technologies
- Conduct experimentation and performance analysis
- Develop automation tools and scripts for operations, monitoring, testing, and analysis
- Support system integration and verification campaigns
- Collaborate with external partners
- Maintain technical documentation
- Contribute to knowledge sharing within the Ground Control Team
