R&D Internship in SiC Power Devices(m/w/x)
Analyzing SiC MOSFET and legacy IGBT data for trends and issues. Python/MATLAB scripting and lab measurement experience required. Dedicated mentorship, flexible working conditions.
Requirements
- Master's student in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science
- Proficiency in data analysis and scripting (Python and/or MATLAB)
- Comfortable building clean, reusable notebooks/scripts
- Experience with version control (Git)
- Hands-on with laboratory measurements
- Experience operating and troubleshooting test setups
- Basic lab automation and instrument control are a plus
- Solid grasp of power-device fundamentals
- Knowledge of SiC MOSFETs, Si IGBTs/diodes
- Understanding of switching behavior, parasitics, and SOA concepts
- Clear communication in English (written & verbal)
- German/Swiss German is an advantage
- Curiosity and structured approach
- Proactive problem-solving
- Ability to bring order to heterogeneous datasets
- Willingness to question assumptions
- Ability to turn analysis into clear recommendations
Tasks
- Mine and structure large datasets from SiC MOSFETs
- Analyze data from SiC MOSFETs across voltage classes, modules, parasitics, and chip-per-substrate variants
- Analyze data from legacy Si IGBTs and diodes
- Uncover trends, issues, and opportunities in data
- Inform ongoing verification and qualification campaigns
- Connect module and substrate behavior to chip design choices
- Collaborate with device, module, test, and reliability experts
- Steer new experiments to deepen product understanding
- Structure and standardize historical and new verification data
- Build reusable analysis workflows to compare conditions and surface trends
- Translate insights into clear implications for chip design
- Translate insights into clear implications for modules and substrates
- Translate insights into clear implications for test setups
- Propose targeted follow-up tests to validate hypotheses
- Support targeted follow-up tests to close gaps
- Communicate results through concise reports
- Communicate results through visuals
- Guide verification and qualification decisions
