Polymers and Composites Technician(m/w/x)

Requirements
- Technical certificate, general secondary education, or equivalent experience in Material/Chemical Engineering
- Hands-on experience in polymers and composites processing, including bonding and gluing
- Experience operating and maintaining electromechanical equipment for resin transfer
- Ability to develop and adapt manufacturing techniques, tooling, and mock-ups
- Experience producing and updating technical documentation
- Construction and assembly of mechanical and hydraulic systems (asset)
- Proficiency with mechanical workshop tools and conventional machining (asset)
- Experience in procurement follow-up and inventory management (asset)
- Knowledge and application of manufacturing methods and work preparation
- Operation and maintenance of electromechanical equipment and systems
- Manufacturing of mechanical parts using conventional machining tools
- Knowledge, application and processing techniques of polymers and composites
- Teamwork skills: working well in groups and active participation
- Accountability: taking responsibility for own actions and decisions
- Flexibility: adapting quickly and resourcefully to shifting priorities
- Effective communication: active listening and allowing others to speak
- Spoken and written English or French, with commitment to learn the other
- Valid driving licence
- Exposure to carcinogens, mutagens or agents toxic to reproduction
- Medical clearance required before contract offer
Tasks
- Contribute to Polymer Laboratory operations
- Manufacture key components for CERN accelerators and experiments
- Support on-site troubleshooting and repair of complex systems
- Participate in superconducting magnet construction
- Operate and maintain polymer processing equipment
- Support polymer material development and characterization
- Test polymer materials and composite solutions
- Fabricate mock-ups and prototypes
- Prepare and maintain manufacturing procedures
- Ensure quality and traceability in production processes
- Handle material and tooling procurement
- Maintain chemical inventory compliance
- Manufacture superconducting coils and critical components
- Apply advanced composite techniques
- Contribute to material and fabrication method development
- Optimize innovative materials and fabrication methods
