Requirements

  • Technical certificate, secondary education, or equivalent
  • Experience in mechanical manufacturing
  • Mechanical assembly and conventional machining experience
  • Experience developing custom tooling and mock-ups
  • Procurement follow-up and inventory management experience
  • Asset: practical experience with superconducting magnets
  • Asset: 3D CAD and mechanical drafting
  • Asset: experience in brazing or soldering
  • Asset: managing and updating technical documentation
  • Knowledge of brazing and soldering techniques
  • Assembly of mechanical structures and equipment
  • Construction and installation of superconducting magnets
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and QA/QC
  • Manufacturing parts using conventional machining tools
  • Teamwork skills and active group participation
  • Accountability for own actions and decisions
  • Flexibility and resourcefulness to shifting priorities
  • Effective communication and active listening skills
  • Spoken and written English or French
  • Valid driving licence

Education

Vocational certification
OR
High school diploma

Work Experience

approx. 1 - 4 years

Tasks

  • Construct and assemble powering busbars for superconducting magnets
  • Braze components and install insulating protections
  • Develop and build tooling and mock-ups for magnet interconnections
  • Procure components from the central warehouse and external suppliers
  • Draft and update procedures for LHC tunnel consolidation campaigns
  • Manage the inventory of specialized tooling and components
  • Perform busbar splice and interconnection interventions in the accelerator tunnel
  • Ensure all activities meet strict safety and quality requirements
