Conducting humanitarian assessments and implementing protection priorities, including detainee visits and family reunification. Bachelor's degree and 2 years international humanitarian experience required. Two-week orientation course and ICRC talent pool access.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 2 years work experience, including 3 months internationally in humanitarian work, development assistance, or IHL related field
- First aid certificate required at deployment stage
- Proficient reporting skills
- Emotional intelligence and ability to interact with diverse groups
- Cross-cultural awareness, ideally through international exposure
- Adaptability and flexibility
- Autonomous and proactive work ethic
- Effective planning and organization skills
- Resilience in insecure and stressful environments
- Understanding of security risks and adherence to rules
- Critical thinking and objective analysis
- Proficient in digital tools, platforms, and AI
- Protection experience considered an asset
- Assistance experience considered an asset
- Ability to work closely with affected communities
- Strong humanitarian motivation and commitment to ICRC
- Familiarity with Red Cross/Red Crescent movement is a strong asset
- Not a national of the country of assignment
- Good health and medical check-up prior to departure
- Driving license for manual transmission vehicles
- Prepared to accept unaccompanied postings for at least 24 months
Tasks
- Contribute to comprehensive assessments of general situation
- Engage with diverse stakeholders including affected communities
- Conduct field missions to assess protection concerns
- Implement protection priorities like detainee visits
- Reunite family members separated by violence
- Document violations of international humanitarian law
- Collaborate with ICRC departments and Red Cross movement
- Plan and conduct IHL dissemination sessions
- Develop dialogue with security forces and arms carriers
- Monitor and report on security environment
- Produce timely and confidential internal reports
- Take on leadership roles within teams
