Conducting field assessments of security and humanitarian needs across Asia Pacific. 3 months international humanitarian work experience required. Two-week orientation course, humanitarian and multicultural environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 2 years work experience, including 3 months internationally in humanitarian work, development assistance, or IHL related field
- First aid certificate at deployment stage
- English proficiency (C1 Level)
- Proficient report crafting skills
- Emotional intelligence and collaboration skills
- Cross-cultural awareness, ideally through international exposure
- Adaptability and flexibility
- Autonomous and proactive work ethic
- Effective planning and organization skills
- Resilience in stressful environments
- Understanding of security risks and adherence to rules
- Critical thinking and objective self-control
- Proficiency in digital tools, platforms, and AI
- Protection experience (asset)
- Assistance experience (asset)
- Community engagement ability
- Strong humanitarian motivation
- Familiarity with Red Cross/Red Crescent movement (asset)
- Not a national of the country of assignment
- Good health and medical check-up
- Driving license (manual transmission)
- Prepared for unaccompanied postings (24 months)
Tasks
- Contribute to comprehensive assessments of security, protection concerns, and humanitarian needs
- Align actions with the Delegation's strategic objectives
- Forge and nurture connections with diverse stakeholders
- Engage with affected communities, armed groups, local authorities, NGOs, and community leaders
- Conduct field missions to assess and evaluate protection concerns
- Facilitate detainee visits and reunite separated family members
- Document violations of international humanitarian law and human rights law
- Collaborate with ICRC departments and the Red Cross/Red Crescent movement
- Implement protection and assistance activities
- Plan and conduct dissemination sessions on IHL and ICRC activities
- Develop and maintain dialogue with security forces and arms carriers
- Monitor the security environment and draft regular reports
- Share updates on security incidents with relevant stakeholders
- Produce timely and confidential internal and external reports
- Occasionally take on leadership roles within teams
