Requirements
- •Experience in electromagnetic or accelerator simulations
- •Ability to work on simulations and experiments
- •Experience in particle source design or operation
- •Experience with Travel, TraceWin, Toutatis, IBSIMU, or Xsuite
- •Knowledge of beam dynamics simulation
- •Knowledge of electromagnetic simulation tools
- •Basic programming skills in Python or C++
- •Problem-solving mindset and learning ability
- •Spoken and written English proficiency
- •Commitment to learn French
- •National of CERN Member or Associate State
- •Background in Applied Physics, Engineering, or related
- •Master's with 2-6 years or PhD with 0-3 years experience
- •No previous CERN fellow or graduate contract

- •Join the beam dynamics simulations team
- •Lead Linac4 source extraction studies
- •Design and measure source extraction systems
- •Implement existing machine models in Xsuite
- •Benchmark Xsuite against TraceWin and Travel codes
- •Learn linac beam dynamics codes
- •Propose designs to reduce transverse beam emittance
- •Increase beam current into RFQ acceptance
- •Qualify designs through source test stand measurements
