Requirements

  • •Knowledge of physical geodesy and gravity field theory
  • •Experience in regional gravity field modelling using GRAVSOFT, GROOPS, KTH, SHGEO or another method
  • •Experience in object-oriented programming (ideally Python and/or C++)
  • •Good organisation, communication, responsibility and teamwork skills
  • •Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • •Spoken and written English or French with commitment to learn the other
  • •National of a CERN Member or Associate Member State
  • •Background in Topography, Geodesy, Surveying, Geomatic or related field
  • •No previous CERN fellow or graduate contract
  • •Valid driving licence

Master's degree
OR
Doctoral / PhD

Work Experience

2 - 6 years

Tasks

  • •Compute and validate state-of-the-art quasi-geoid models
  • •Model equipotential surfaces inside tunnels
  • •Participate in field observation campaigns
  • •Perform gravity, GNSS, leveling, and astro-geodetic measurements
  • •Develop gravity field modelling software packages
  • •Integrate existing tools with new software features
  • •Contribute to FCC studies and sub-millimetric alignment
  • •Support the CERN-Swisstopo height system collaboration
  • •Supervise and lead the project team
