Fabrication Engineer for RF Components(m/w/x)
Mechanical realization and development of Triode components, including laser micro-machining for grid manufacturing. Experience with vacuum brazing, electron beam welding, and high-precision machining required. 30 days paid leave, CERN health insurance, and pension fund membership.
Requirements
- Mechanical components assembly experience
- Fabrication techniques knowledge (vacuum brazing, electron beam welding)
- Fabrication methods for high-precision mechanical/RF components
- Metallic and non-metallic materials knowledge (OFHC copper, ceramics, alloys)
- 3D and 2D technical drawings experience
- Technical drawings interpretation (ISO GPS tolerancing)
- CAD tools experience (preferably CATIA)
- Initial quality management processes experience
- Quality control procedures knowledge (metrology, NDT, BPS/WPS)
- Mechanical fabrication for RF structures knowledge
- Vacuum chambers familiarity
- Laser processing familiarity
- Spoken and written English
- Commitment to learn French
- National of a CERN Member or Associate Member State
- Never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before
- Valid driving licence
Tasks
- Focus on mechanical realisation and development of Triode components
- Oversee development of laser micro-machining for grid manufacturing
- Define and follow up on feasibility studies for high-precision machining
- Conduct feasibility studies for vacuum brazing and electron beam welding
- Optimise design for manufacturing based on feasibility studies
- Define QA/QC plans for metrology, roughness, and leak detection
- Ensure R&D traceability and documentation
- Record joining procedures with concerned services
- Participate in defining complete fabrication sequence for Tristron
