Requirements
- University degree in Nursing
- License to practice in country of residence
- Computer literacy
- 3-5 years nursing experience, minimum 2 years international humanitarian experience
- Project management and public health experience
- English (C1 or above) required
- French, Arabic, Spanish or Russian (C1 or above) strong asset
- Strong motivation for humanitarian work
- Ability to work under pressure in dangerous environment
- Healthcare in detention experience strong asset
- Previous exposure to international human rights issues asset
- Not a national of the country of assignment
- Good health and medical check-up prior to departure
- Driving license for manual transmission vehicles
- Prepared for unaccompanied postings for first two missions
Tasks
- Assess detainees' health status and access to ethical health care
- Evaluate detainees' health and nutritional needs
- Plan and implement projects to improve health care access
- Monitor and evaluate health improvement projects
- Collect and analyze relevant health data
- Share findings with Detention and Health teams
- Write reports on health and project outcomes
- Establish and maintain health care partnerships
- Ensure medical ethics are respected by all staff
- Document cases of ill-treatment
- Follow up on sick and wounded detainees
- Advise and support medical staff with hunger strikers
- Train medical staff
- Prepare annual institutional budget and planning document
