Requirements

  • Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or TimescaleDB
  • Experience with SQL, Unix shell script, and Python
  • Knowledge of Linux operating system
  • Knowledge of service administration and configuration tools like Puppet
  • Experience monitoring system health and performance
  • Experience with Rundeck automation or orchestration tools
  • Familiarity with large-scale, high-availability database environments
  • Proficiency with Angular and Flask
  • Knowledge of containerisation/container orchestration
  • Knowledge of the ELK stack
  • Spoken and written English, commitment to learn French
  • National of a CERN Member or Associate Member State
  • Maximum two years post-graduation experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract
  • University degree required
  • PhD not eligible

Tasks

  • Administer MySQL, PostgreSQL, and InfluxDB instances
  • Contribute to the DBOD service user interface evolution
  • Participate in service configuration and architecture design
  • Manage database upgrades and patches
  • Handle hardware migrations
  • Monitor system health and performance
  • Ensure high performance, availability, and security
  • Assist and advise users on DBOD service
  • Discuss and implement service enhancements
  • Provide technical mentorship and cross-training
  • Perform operations tasks and software development
  • Work with open-source software and IT infrastructure
  • Gain experience with AlmaLinux 9, OpenStack, Puppet, Prometheus, GitLab
