Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline
  • 10 years experience as CT, Crisis Action/Response or Crisis Planning
  • Joint Special Operations experience
  • Experience advising senior leaders on joint staff
  • Significant experience in Counterterrorism, Crisis Action/Response, or Crisis Planning
  • Extensive Interagency engagement, including US diplomatic missions
  • Experience working with multinational partners
  • Current Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
  • Valid U.S. Passport with 9+ months validity
  • Ability to work with senior officials (GOs, FOs, Ambassadors, SES)
  • Ability to run operational planning teams or working groups

Tasks

  • Utilize NEW NORMAL Crisis Response Planning activities.
  • Provide continuity for crisis response planning.
  • Remain current on DoD guidance and policies.
  • Provide recommendations to leadership.
  • Report on Quarterly Readiness Reviews.
  • Maintain command orders, instructions, and procedures.
  • Update command orders, instructions, and procedures.
  • Coordinate with Functional Combatant Commands.
  • Facilitate coordination with diplomatic missions.
  • Provide recommendations to Senior Defense Officials.
  • Coordinate with Interagency partners throughout the AOR.
  • Provide expertise on interagency stakeholder inclusion.
  • Develop contingency plans.
  • Develop mission analyses.
  • Develop new concepts.
  • Develop decision papers.
  • Develop staff studies.
  • Develop authoritative recommendations.
  • Plan Operations Plans and projects.
  • Present plans and projects to AFRICOM leaders.
  • Coordinate reviews of completed projects.
  • Assess project technical quality.
  • Analyze project coordination and consistency.
  • Evaluate project recommendations.
  • Ensure project compliance with objectives.
  • Plan assignments.
  • Determine assignment approaches.
  • Coordinate assignments as needed.
  • Interpret policy for assignments.
  • Execute all assignment phases.
  • Utilize joint planning processes.
  • Utilize crisis action planning processes.
  • Utilize adaptive planning processes.
  • Develop methods to improve administrative effectiveness.
  • Develop new approaches for operations assessment.
  • Develop new approaches for operations evaluation.
  • Facilitate discussions to improve planning.
  • Develop seminars to enhance training.
  • Liaise with US counterterrorism stakeholders.
  • Liaise with US counterterrorism action groups.
  • Engage with interagency members.
  • Facilitate interagency involvement in planning.
  • Facilitate interagency involvement in operations.
  • Provide after-action assessments of preparedness.
  • Assess USAFRICOM staff activities.
