Chemical Lab Technician – Analytical & Characterization(m/w/x)
Routine isotherm, porosity, elemental analysis, TGA, and DSC measurements in state-of-the-art lab. Solid experience with analytical methods and instrument calibration required. 25 vacation days, hybrid work, up to 4 weeks remote annually.
Requirements
- Apprenticeship as Chemical Laboratory Technician or degree in Chemistry/related field
- Solid experience with analytical methods and routine lab operations
- Maintain, calibrate, validate, and troubleshoot lab instruments
- Experience in method development and implementation
- Strong documentation and data handling skills
- Structured, detail-oriented, proactive working style
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Thrive in dynamic, team-oriented environment
- Solid understanding of lab safety standards and protocols
- Ensure adherence to established procedures
- Professional proficiency in English
- Knowledge of SUVA requirements or comparable lab safety regulations
- Basic Python or similar coding skills for data processing
- Advanced coding/scripting or dashboarding skills
- Experience with advanced material characterization or thermal analysis techniques
Tasks
- Conduct routine isotherm measurements
- Prepare samples for isotherm measurements
- Perform porosity measurements using mercury porosimetry and N₂ physisorption
- Conduct elemental analysis and titrations
- Execute thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)
- Perform dynamic vapor sorption (DVS) analysis
- Develop and refine advanced analytical methods
- Implement new measurement technologies
- Support stakeholders working on sorbent materials
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments
- Validate and troubleshoot laboratory instruments
- Update maintenance and calibration logs
- Create validation reports and SOPs
- Document lessons learned
- Manage inventory and supply ordering
- Handle gas and waste
- Organize and clean the lab
- Conduct HSE walkthroughs
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Manage and organize laboratory data
- Record and clean data
- Perform basic data analysis
- Apply introductory coding skills (e.g., Python)
- Design interactive dashboards and reports (e.g., Power BI)
- Visualize laboratory performance and KPIs
- Optimize and scale data workflows
