Requirements

- Supplier relationship and performance management expertise
- Knowledge of Export Control regulations and compliance requirements
- Fluent in English
- Experience in long-cycle, high-tech procurement (e.g., propulsion, electronics, optics, composites)
- Experience in global sourcing and supplier development
- Prior leadership of small teams or virtual teams
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills
- Ability to influence and collaborate across functions and cultures
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage ambiguity and operate in fast-paced environments
Tasks
- Define and develop procurement strategy for space-related commodities
- Execute procurement strategy to ensure optimal cost, quality, delivery, and risk management
- Conduct market analysis and technology scouting to identify trends and opportunities
- Assess supplier landscape to identify risks and opportunities
- Develop multi-year roadmaps with cost reduction, supplier consolidation, and innovation strategies
- Align category strategy with Business Units and Engineering stakeholders
- Select and manage strategic suppliers for performance in quality, delivery, cost, and compliance
- Lead supplier evaluation, negotiation, and contracting activities
- Drive supplier development and risk mitigation plans
- Manage supplier performance reviews and escalations
- Develop recovery plans when necessary
- Support space programs with procurement expertise and timely availability of parts
- Collaborate with Program Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality teams
- Ensure procurement deliverables are met throughout program phases
- Influence design-to-cost and make-or-buy decisions with Engineering
- Track budget impacts, cost savings, and procurement KPIs with Finance
- Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks (ITAR, EAR, NEO, CMMC) with Legal and Compliance teams
- Guide Commodity Specialists within the category
- Drive harmonization of procurement processes, tools, and best practices
- Represent the category in internal governance boards and to senior leadership
