Requirements

Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience
Extensive Java development experience with Spring ecosystem
Solid knowledge of big-data technologies (Hadoop, HDFS, Apache Ozone, HBase, ClickHouse, Apache Spark, Kafka)
Working knowledge of Python (SDK development, PySpark)
Proven experience with modern software engineering practices (quality assurance, CI/CD, DevOps)
Experience in design, deployment, and operation of complex, high-availability systems
Knowledge of programming techniques and languages (Java, Python)

Conceptualizing, designing, and developing user experiences and interfaces
Design of databases/repositories

Tasks

Drive evolution of the CERN Accelerator Archival system (NXCALS)
Design core system components
Develop ingestion pipelines (ETL)
Develop metadata services
Develop data compaction mechanisms
Develop data extraction algorithms
Develop APIs
Collaborate with user communities
Define best practices for NXCALS use
Promote best practices for NXCALS use
Work with CERN IT department
Select underlying storage technologies
Validate underlying storage technologies
Contribute to system operation
Contribute to system maintenance
Contribute to user support
Monitor big-data technologies
Assess applicability of big-data technologies
Mentor junior software engineers
Technically support junior software engineers
Contribute to other Controls data engineering platforms
