Senior Manufacturing Engineer Additive Manufacturing(m/w/x)
End-to-end metal additive manufacturing for rocket components, including build prep and powder lifecycle management. Metal AM expertise, ideally LPBF in aerospace, required. 30 days vacation, virtual company share program.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent
- Professional experience in metal AM (ideally LPBF) in aerospace, high-tech, or similar environments
- Strong expertise across AM chain: slicing, parameter development, powder handling, in-situ monitoring, post-processing, NDT/CT
- Strong proficiency with CAD and AM toolchains, and data analysis for process control
- Ability to lead industrialization projects and manage TRL/MRL maturity gates
- Strong problem-solving skills, structured working style, and ability to operate in fast-paced environments
- Fluent English
- Knowledge of Lean, continuous improvement, and process capability assessment
- Experience with advanced/automated AM systems
- Experience in powder development and testing
- Background in automated or quality-critical production systems
Tasks
- Own the end-to-end AM manufacturing process
- Manage build preparation
- Develop AM parameters
- Oversee powder lifecycle
- Manage post-processing (heat treatment, machining, finishing)
- Lead industrialization for AM parts
- Lead NPI for AM parts
- Develop pFMEA for AM parts
- Create control plans for AM parts
- Conduct capability studies for AM parts
- Validate AM processes from prototype to serial production
- Lead problem-solving for AM production
- Conduct root cause analysis for AM production issues
- Implement structural improvements for yield
- Implement structural improvements for machine uptime
- Implement structural improvements for process stability
- Establish quality frameworks for AM
- Control AM parameters
- Define AM acceptance criteria
- Govern AM build data
- Lead complex investigations using structured methodologies
- Collaborate with Design on DfAM
- Provide guidance on AM manufacturability
- Provide guidance on critical AM features
- Provide guidance on AM cost drivers
- Define equipment requirements for AM
- Support investment planning for new AM infrastructure
- Support investment planning for AM automation
- Mentor engineers in AM methods
- Mentor technicians in AM methods
- Mentor engineers in process engineering rigor
- Mentor technicians in process engineering rigor
- Mentor engineers in statistical thinking
- Mentor technicians in statistical thinking
- Ensure safe operation of AM equipment
- Ensure safe powder handling
- Ensure safe heat treatment operations
