MAIT Additive Manufacturing Technician(m/w/x)
Operating metal 3D printing systems for modular space orbital vehicles, monitoring builds and documenting processes. 2 years hands-on experience in additive manufacturing or aerospace production, with NASA/aerospace AM standards familiarity, required. Requirements
- 2 years of relevant hands-on experience in additive manufacturing or aerospace production
- Comfort with metal powders, inert gas systems, and precision tools
- Familiarity with additive manufacturing standards, including NASA or aerospace industry standards
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, customer-focused manufacturing environment
- English language skills (spoken and written) for communication and documentation
- Experience with CAD and/or build preparation software (e.g., 3Dxpert, Magics, Netfabb)
- Experience operating metal additive manufacturing machines such as laser powder bed fusion or directed energy deposition printers
- Hands-on experience with propulsion or aerospace components (combustion chambers, injectors, nozzles)
- Familiarity with aerospace and spaceflight quality standards (e.g., AS9100, NASA-STD, ECSS)
- Knowledge or experience working with industrial robots
Tasks
- Set up and operate metal AM systems
- Monitor build and machine status
- Identify anomalies and escalate issues
- Maintain traceability and build documentation
- Keep work area clean and organized
- Ensure equipment and tools are maintained
- Assist with machine maintenance and troubleshooting
- Perform post-processing tasks like support removal
- Conduct bead blasting and surface finishing
- Coordinate with service providers for heat treatment
- Ensure cleanliness and quality of parts before inspection
- Prepare manufacturing protocols and traceability records
- Conduct visual inspections for surface defects
